In 1979 Keith Shumaker began a wholesale route with one employee dedicated to selling just batteries. After about six months in the business the route salesman quit. Keith then turned to his son Lane Shumaker to be his new salesmen. In 1984 Keith sold the battery business to Lane along with one acre of ground to build a building. Since that time Shumaker Battery Warehouse has grown to an 8-route truck system with three retail locations covering the 4-state area of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Our retail locations were renamed Battery Outfitters in 1998 to better represent the total line of batteries and products we now offer.
